Rare 1931 SIGNED +Posted On-Board Germany Graf Zeppelin C35 Stamp Postcard Cover
Excellent and Rare Graf Zeppelin glossy PostCard Signed by Pilots. Back of PostCard was rubber-stamped in red L. Signed and sent from the flight crew and addressed as follows : "To the editor of the Michelstadter Times - Michelstadt, Germany". The message on left translates as : "On Board Graf Zeppelin" and then : "For your friendship, enthusiastic support and interest, so that you might have evidence of the Zeppelin event, we express in this way to a person like ourselves, our gratitude for your courtesy".

(Apparently the flight crew sent this card to thank the newspaper editor for his favorable reporting regarding the Graf Zeppelin). There is even more intrigue below that message (but crossed out perhaps at the newspaper for security of the flight crew). The first line can barely be made out and reads Mit vorzug1. Hochachtung" translates as: "With Preference1. Under that line are two names rubber-stamped in purple ink, then followed by a line drawn in with their two signatures, one of the pilot and the other of the co-pilot (later obliterated and unreadable).

As mentioned above, someone feared for their safety, and at some point after receiving the postcard, had obliterated their names. The front of card depicts the Graf Zeppelin in flight, and the text seen at bottom translates to. Friedrichshafen - Graf Zeppelin at full speed - in the background the Zeppelin shipyard seen from the plane.
